Nice cars. I will see what I can do to get a picture or two up soon. Looks like you had a couple of good days for the convertables.

How many HP is Brian's GTLM; do you know?

The body is aluminum. It is built using a system called Superplistic forming. Same system that the Jag and Aston Martins use. I was told they heat the aluminum to just below melting temp and then its vacume formed into the body pieces. The system is supposed to give it extra strength. The subframe is aluminum as well and is built with replaceable sections. The car is actually based on the Panoz Race car technology so it does have a stiff chasis. Added bonus of the system is if I ever have a problem I can have the car fixed very inexpensively. I also love that I can go to Autozone or Ford dealer and get most of my mechanical parts needed. It really is the best of all worlds. Exotic car with affordable ownership cost with strong racing heritage. I LOVE MINE!!!

I really don't know much about the Panoz, based on the above, I assume the running gear and engine have Ford roots.

I like the color of the Blue Panoz a lot. It stands out in the crowd like red does but better, and less common. What color is the interior, tan?

Your right! Engine is a 4.6L Ford that is the same hand built SVT engine that Ford uses in the High Performance Cobra. Panoz also offers a GTLM model that is the same engine but supecharged. Transmission is a Tremac 5 or 6 speed based on your cars options. It really makes for an affordable exotic.

Racing or street cars?

Esperante street cars will run $40-65,000 US for good used one. The race cars used are $25-35,000 and $70,000 new.

Not really sure you can buy a new one from Panoz until the new model comes out.

I have seen a few used Roadsters from the late 90's on ebay for $25,000 area.

Can you convert a race car to a street car easily?

I doubt the effort and cash needed would be wortth the effort, plus you have DOT safety things to deal with. It may have to be licenced as a kit car.

Thats too bad, it would have made for a most convenient track car that could be driven back and forth (vs having to trailer it which is a royal pain...)
