I hear rumors that Panoz is coming out with a new model for 2010.
Is this going to be a different model with a new name or just a new version of the Esperante?
Anyone here know and have you seen any pictures?
If it's a 2010 does that mean we will see it before the end of 2009?

LeManns, I was at the factory in May and snapped a few pics. Here's a couple of the tentatively named, MK 2 model for 2010. I was told they didn't yet know whether just the rear glass would lift up or the entire rear deck lift up.

EXCELLENT, thanks for posting the pictures. It looks very nice. I would be happy with either way they do it but I think it would look better to have the rear sound of the glass work lift with the window.
Any words what the running gear will be?

If I remember correctly, and I may be mistaken, it'll be the 5.4 L.

Looks like the MK 2's nose is based off of the new updated nose of the GTLM GT2 car...

Their racing program IS the development tool used to make the next generation of the Esperante. The rumors I hear are that it will be introduced this year and will still be offered as a GT coupe as well as the convertable. The new Panoz Abruzzi is expected to be introduced this year as well. Panoz is rumored to also be assisting/working with a company to have some type of European exposure so this year should be a good year for Panoz to become a better known name through out the world.

I wonder if the just released 5.0L for the Mustang might find its way into the Espy at some point?
410+hp Normally aspirated sounds pretty damn good to me!

Interesting. That would make sense, especially for the street car. Is the new 5.0 DOHC and is it offered as a SVT with forged components and hand built?
I do have a few conections to Panoz Mfg and can tell you the Abruzzi was planned for introduction late 09 but was delayed earlier this year, and now is estimated for, well, look for it in the third quarter of 2010 to be shown. I have not asked details about the detail of engine or mount location as I have been trying to show respect for their privacy; but after all we all appreciate the story behind Panoz what they have accomplished already when many said they would fail.

The new 5.0 is for now the engine for just the Mustang GT! It features lots of aluminum, variable valve timing and lots of other goodies! Word is the GT500 will also be getting an aluminum block and will get more power, with less weight.

I'm on board. This sounds like a great engine for the next gen Esperante. If the Abruzzi was to be a mid engine turbo car, I hope it has a euro connection. Perhaps Audi/VW like in the Audi R8. What else is out there that is turbo but also qualifies for GT class? Is LMS in Europe doing away with the GT1 class? Where will the Aston Martins be racing next year?

I can't imagine Panoz not using an American drivetrain for their cars. It's kind of their calling card.
No one really uses turbo engines in GT racing these days. I just don't think the regulations really favor forced induction engines.
GT1 in the LMS will still be around and it will (unfortunately) consist only of cars that are from next years' FIA GT1 World Championship.

Would love to blast down the PCH with a new coupe sporting a new Ford 5.0 twin turbo. BOOOOM!
It would be nice if they'd go for the 5.4 Shelby enfine.

I was thinking the new 5.0 that Ford just came out with.
{ The new engine is all-new, all-aluminum with double overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, twin independent variable camshaft timing and every other trick in the book including an 11.0:1 compression ratio. You can't even put a set of tubular headers on it. It's already got 'em. And get this: The redline is a screaming 7,000 rpm. The sound itself, as you wind it out and blast shifts, is worth the price of the car.
It's quicker to 60 mph than a 2010 Chevy Camaro SS. A new Challenger R/T has no chance of keeping up.
Last week Inside Line exclusively put this 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 on a chassis dyno to see if Ford's power ratings for the new 5.0-liter are believable. They're not. This thing makes way more than Ford is admitting to. On our chassis dyno it recorded 395 hp at 6,600 rpm and 365 lb-ft of torque at 4,350 rpm. AT THE WHEELS!!!!!! }
If they aren't releasing the Abruzzi til Petite Le Mans then more than likely the new Esperante wont be out until last half of 2011.

I needed to order some parts for my GTLM from the factory yesterday, so I asked about the Abruzzi! It should be at Lemans. PM me for details. . .

Looks as if that story had a few flaws in its writing:
"Reports from the motorsport world, however, now indicate that Panoz has aborted the Abruzzi project in favor of a new GT2 program. But as we all know, GT racers are based on road cars, and that's exactly what Panoz appears to have in the works".
I am just assuming that the new Abruzzi, "Spirit of Le Mans" will race in the GT2 class? But a new "Esperante successor"? Obviously at $450K that isn't what the new Abruzzi is marketed to be nor is it homologated to US standards. So the question is, what is coming out of PADC in the near future?
I have heard that the Esperante will be redesigned, that the Roadster "will live again" and now this article saying that PADC is working on an Esperante successor. My real curosity is, what is this going to be because I really like this alot. If the new Esperante could look like this, I'll take one please.
